Block B recognizes and honors students who are making a positive impact at Silas Bartsch School. Students earn points at the end of each trimester with exceptional grades, proficiency on major assessments, involvement in after-school activities such as sports and community service, etc. Students who attain enough points towards Block B twice during the school year are rewarded with a special trip. Additionally, students who make Block B a total of three times in their 6th and 7th grade years and every trimester in their 8th grade year will receive the honor of being a Silas Scholar.
Silas Scholars are 8th grade students who have been honored with Block B every trimester in their 8th grade year and at least three times in their previous middle school years. These students are invited to attend a formal dinner with their parents. They are awarded a plaque at this dinner. They also wear a special medal during the promotion ceremony.
