School Site Council

The Silas Bartsch School Site Council (SSC) is a group of teachers, parents, administrators, and interested community members who are elected by their colleagues and/or peers to work together to develop and monitor our school's improvement plan. Their primary role is to oversee the academic planning process to ensure that the needs of all students are specifically addressed in the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

• Measure the effectiveness of improvement strategies at our school
• Seek input from school advisory committees such as the English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC)
• Review and analyze student academic information
• Revise improvement strategies and expenditures
• Develop the approve the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), and monitor implementation of the SPSA
• Provide input on District Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)
• Represent our school and participate in the District Advisory Committee (DAC)

• Parent or community membership is equal to school staff membership.
• Classroom teachers must be in the majority of the staff side.  
• "Other School Personnel" includes:  Other administrative positions, other non-classroom teacher positions, and all site classified personnel.  
• Smallest council is composed of 10 members.  

Four School Site Council (SSC) meetings are conducted annually.

• Call for nominations

• SSC elections

• Complete SSC training

• Review SSC roles and responsibilities

• Review and approve School Parent Compact

• Review School Safety Plan

• Review bylaws and revise as needed
   

Tuesday, January 23, 2024: 5:00pm in the Library

• Review student achievement data / test results

• Discuss data analysis and student needs

• Review current School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)

• Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy
   

Tuesday, March 19, 2024: 5:00pm in the Library

• Review Dress Code

• Review latest student achievement data and needs assessment

• Establish SPSA writing team and timeline

• Discuss SPSA revisions for next year
   

Tuesday, May 16, 2024: 5:00pm in the Library

• Review/discuss SPSA and budget for next school year

• Approve SPSA and budget for next school year
