Attendance
Regular school attendance is directly related to student achievement and success. When it is necessary for your child to be absent from school, it is important that you contact the school office at (559) 305-7360 or send a signed note with your child upon his or her return. Contacting the office the morning of your child's absence is greatly appreciated. It is the responsibility of each parent to clear all absences within 24 hours. Avoid the SARB (Student Attendance Review Board) process by bringing doctor's notes into the office.
We certainly do not want children to attend school when they are ill. Therefore, we ask that you try to schedule appointments after school hours whenever possible and continue to send notes verifying illnesses or appointments to school. A student can be counted as present if he or she is in attendance for any portion of the school day. If an appointment has been scheduled for late morning or the afternoon, it is better to have your child attend class a portion of the day rather than miss an entire day.
Students are recognized for excellent attendance. Additionally, incentives are employed throughout the year to promote daily school attendance. If your child becomes at-risk ob being considered "Chronically Absent", they may be put on an attendance contract. 'Chronically Absent' is defined as missing 10% or more ot the school year, whether excused or unexcused.

Student Attendance Review Board (SARB) Information
Regular school attendance is essential for student success. Under the California Education Code (EC 48200–48273), all students between the ages of 6 and 18 are required to attend school on a regular basis.
When a student is frequently absent or tardy without valid excuses, the school will notify parents/guardians and provide support to improve attendance. If attendance does not improve, the case may be referred to the School Attendance Review Board (SARB).
The SARB process is designed to:
- Work with families to identify barriers to attendance
- Provide resources and supports to improve school engagement
- Ensure compliance with California’s compulsory education laws
Our school is committed to supporting students and families in overcoming challenges to regular attendance. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact the school office.
